TAS-D Thales Alenia Space Deutschland GmbH
Thales Alenia Space’s German subsidiary, located in Ditzingen, Germany, was founded in March 2011. However, its heritage goes back to the company SEL Alcatel (SEL: Standard Elektrik Lorenz) and the 1980-ies. The company was involved in the Space Lab Mission, in the development of Telecom Satellite electronic components, and the implementation of conventional as well as GNSS-based Air Navigation Aids.
In 2001, after a number of re-organisations, the resulting Thales Air Traffic Management (ATM), became a world leader providing full range Communication, Navigation, Surveillance (CNS) and Air Traffic Management (ATM) solutions. In this context Thales ATM Germany took a leading role in EGNOS (European Geostationary Navigation Overlay System), being responsible for integration of the subsystems into the first operational EGNOS version as well as the Assembly, Integration and Validation (AIV) of the complete system with the successful Operational Readiness Review in 2005.
Since then TAS-D has been constantly growing. Today its team counts over 70 international employees consisting of space professionals, science experts, and software-, hardware- and system engineers. TAS-D focuses on innovative software, electronics and payload development as well as on System Integration activities.
The TAS-D facilities are integrated in the Thales Deutschland Headquarter in Ditzingen, which was recently completed in summer 2014. The building complies with high environmental standards. Due to its low energy consumption it is considered a “Green Building” according to its LEED Gold Certificate.
